MISS Universe Philippines 2021 candidate Maureen Wroblewitz became candid about the challenges she has been facing with regards to her mental health.
In an Instagram post, Maureen shared that she visited her province recently to take care of her mental health.
“Just came back from a short trip to my beautiful province of Pangasinan. I needed to take this break for my mental health. You only see what I post on social media, but what I don’t show are the challenges I go through everyday,” she said.
Maureen opened up about the pressures that she has been feeling lately.
“I have realized that in this new journey of mine, I have been my worst competitor, I have always been. I pressure myself to improve, but it only hurts me. It is okay not to be okay, it is okay to be sad and cry, it is okay to feel unmotivated and unproductive. We need to acknowledge what we are feeling and know that all our feelings are valid. A lesson I have learned the hard way,” she added.
She also admitted that she has been battling depression and anxiety.
“I haven’t been very open about my mental health in the past because I was embarrassed, but I want to change that. To whoever needs to hear this right now, know that you are not battling this alone. I wish I knew that when I was suffering from depression and anxiety (I still do). I wish I knew that all my feelings are valid,” she said.
The aspiring beauty queen also shared that one important realization she had amid the difficult times is the importance of gratitude.(Push)
