MANILA – It is Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio’s personal privilege if she decides to run in the 2028 presidential elections, a Malacañang official said.
According to Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, it is Duterte-Carpio’s right to seek the presidency.
“I think it’s too premature, but it is her privilege (to run for presidency in the 2028 polls),” Bersamin said in an ambush interview.
Duterte-Carpio said in a recent meeting with a group of overseas Filipino workers (OFW) in Ginza, Japan that she is seriously considering running for presidency in the 2028.
“What’s happening to the country now can no longer continue. We see the country continuously backsliding. I really believe our country can be great,” she added.
Duterte-Carpio previously said she does not plan to join the presidential race in 2028 after being advised by her father to retire from politics after her vice presidency.
Duterte-Carpio also said that she was surprised that the attacks against her came early and she was also stunned that the ones who are doing the attack were her former allies.
