IT’S the season of giving and the No. 1 regional newspaper in Western Visayas sure gets this vibe.
Panay News, Inc. in partnership with the Daniel G. Fajardo Foundation, Inc. held a gift-giving activity last Friday, Dec. 14, in two day care centers in barangays Balabag and Ungka, Pavia, Iloilo.
The one-day activity is a tradition of the local paper every December. This year, a total of 120 kindergarten pupils from Barangay Balabag received gifts while 64 from Barangay Ungka. These gifts included shirts, bread, calendars, candies, chips, and biscuits.
The kids also enjoyed participating in games the Panay News management has prepared. They also danced to “Baby Shark,” “Boom Boom,” and “Baam.”
Aside from the gifts, Panay News also donated trash cans to the Balabag Day Care Center, and the Ungka Day Care Center, as part of its campaign for environmental protection. A lecture on proper waste disposal was also held.
According to Panay News’ Chief Operating Officer Daniel Fajardo II, children are the target of the company’s project because they are “the future.” He added that teaching the kids little acts of kindness and environmental concern is something that could go a long way.
The gift-giving activity was sponsored by Double Dragon Properties Corp., Gardenia, Sari Sari Breadstore, Deocampo Barquillos, Tinapayan, Nature’s Spring, Fiesta T-Shirts, Bear Brand, Mang Inasal, and SM Supermalls./PN
