ROXAS City – Another reform center for drug dependents and plea bargainers opened in Capiz province.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 6 headed by acting director Alex Tablate, local officials of Ivisan town and the provincial government of Capiz recently inaugurated the Balay Silangan in Barangay Poblacion Norte, Ivisan.
Ivisan mayor Felipe Neri N. Yap thanked partner agencies.
Balay Silangan will rehabilitate drug pusher-surrenderees.
Ivisan Balay Silangan is the sixth reform center in Capiz and the 61st in Western Visayas.
According to PDEA-6, Balay Silangan offers reformatory programs as an alternative intervention for drug personalities who are not constant users and are not eligible for medical treatment and rehabilitation facilities since they are pusher-surrenderees.
The center gives them temporary shelter with the objective of making them self-sufficient and law-abiding members of society.
Also present during the launching and inauguration of the facility were Capiz Police Provincial Office director, Police Colonel Jerome D. Afuyog Jr.; Department of the Interior and Local Government-Capiz cluster leader, Local Government Operations Officer VII Evelyn Vista; and other Municipal Anti-drug Abuse Council members./PN
