ILOILO City – The police arrested a 32-year-old man in Barangay Ilaya, Ivisan, Capiz charged with violating the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act.

Raffy Anoche was detained at the Ivisan police station on Jan. 2.

The warrant for his arrest was issued by Judge Daniel Antonio Gerardo Amular of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 21.

Anoche was specifically charged with violating Section 5 of the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act.

Section 5 lists several acts considered as violence against women and children. These include:

* causing, threatening or attempting physical harm to the woman or her child

* placing the woman or her child in fear of imminent physical harm

* attempting to compel or compelling the woman or her child to engage in conduct which they have the right to desist from or desist from conduct which they have the right to engage in

* attempting to restrict or restricting the woman’s or her child’s freedom of movement or conduct by force or threat of force, physical or other harm or threat of physical or other harm, or intimidation directed against the woman or child

* inflicting or threatening to inflict physical harm on oneself for the purpose of controlling the actions or decisions of the woman or her child

* causing or attempting to cause the woman or her child to engage in any sexual activity which does not constitute rape, by force or threat of force, physical harm, or through intimidation directed against the woman or her child or her/his immediate family

* causing mental or emotional anguish, public ridicule or humiliation to the woman or her child, including, but not limited to, repeated verbal and emotional abuse, and denial of financial support or custody of minor children of access to the woman’s child/children.

As of this writing, it was unclear if Anoche was able to post bail that the court set at P24,000./PN
