ILOILO City – An officer of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Region 6 was arrested in Barangay San Juan, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.
Jail Officer Ryan Tupas, a resident of the village, was caught on the strength of an arrest warrant around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, a police report showed.
Officers of the municipal police station served the warrant in relation to attempted homicide charge Tupas faces, the report added.
Tupas, 35, was assigned at the Barotac Viejo District Jail. He was the suspect in the shooting of Ernesto Pescado, 49, of Barangay Vista Alegre, Barotac Viejo on Aug. 15.
The shooting happened at around 12:30 a.m. Pescado was about to board his motorcycle when he was attacked by Tupas – who was reportedly drunk. Responding policemen recovered from Tupas his service firearm, a .45 pistol.
The suspect was now detained in the lockup cell of the Barotac Viejo police station./PN
