MANILA – Jalen Green’s impressive run in the 2021 National Basketball Association (NBA) Summer League halted due to a sore right hamstring in the first half of the Houston Rockets’ 76-92 defeat to Toronto Raptors on Thursday night (Friday in the Philippines) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Filipino-American guard/forward sustained the injury when he came down awkwardly following a missed shot attempt. The number two overall pick in the recent Rookie Draft was limping after the fall, stretched out of the playing arena, and did not return for the Rockets.

According to Rockets head coach Stephen Silas, the team will be cautious with their approach on Green’s hamstring injury and is considering sitting him out for the remainder of the Summer League.

“It’s pretty much caution. He just felt a little tightness, so we’re going to be extra careful and have him back there getting some treatment,” Silas said in an interview with Rockets wire.

Green was solid in his first two games for the Rockets, where he had 23 points, five rebounds and two assists against Cleveland Cavaliers, and 25 points, five rebounds, and three assists against Detroit Pistons.

On Thursday, Green tallied 13 points, making four of eight shots and 3 of 5 3-pointers despite playing just 12 minutes.

“I’m sad that I had to leave that game, but I feel good,” Green said after the match. “I feel I improved myself this week here in NBA Summer League.”

“We’re just going to be cautious and get ready for the season in case it is anything. But it’s just tight.

I don’t have anything to prove anything here. I got to prove it in the NBA, and that’s what I’m going to do,” he added./PN
