JANELLA Salvador admitted it was really a dream come true for her to bring to life the dual role of Regina/iconic villain Valentina in Mars Ravelo’s “Darna.”
“I really fell in love with the character. I love Regina and I think she’s one of the best characters I will ever portray in my lifetime. Portraying Regina was really an experience for me. I will never forget the process of getting into the character. Una ko pa lang nabasa ‘yung script and what she stands for, I knew I had to do it.
“I think this role really made me grow as an actress. I don’t think so. I know it din. It gave me the confidence to know that I’m really for this industry because I usually doubted myself before. This character gave me so much to learn from and for myself. Perfect timing and everything, super,” she shared during a mediacon on Jan. 30.
Preparing for her first onscreen role as a villain was also a welcome challenge for Janella, who was previously last seen acting in the 2020 series “The Killer Bride.”
Janella also admitted she is now open to doing more kontrabida roles in future projects.
“I think it’s crucial naman talaga kung ano ‘yung susunod kong gagawin. Pero hindi ko naman iniisip ‘yun. Ang mas iniisip ko, kung maganda ba ‘yung character, kung maganda ba ‘yung story. Mas dun ko siguro ibe-base. Okay din naman magbida kontrabida honestly. It really helps you grow.
“‘Pag tinatanong ako kung ano ‘yung dream role ko, sabi ko gusto ko ma-experience na mamatay ‘yung character ko. Recently ko lang din nagawa ‘yung scene na ‘yun. Siyempre nalungkot ako for Regina. Actually nung nabasa ko siya actually medyo naiyak ako kasi ang dami ring pinagdaanan ng character ko tapos she’s gone pero si Valentina naman ay buhay pa so abangan nila,” she revealed. (PUSH)
