FILIPINA actress, television host and commercial model Janine Gutierrez is up for what may be her most challenging role yet, as she is set to transform into a full-blown “Dragon Lady” for GMA-7’s upcoming Afternoon Prime offering.
The upcoming series “Dragon Lady” – deeply rooted on Chinese-Filipino culture, tradition and superstition – is set to begin this February, just in time for the Chinese Lunar New Year.
Fresh from the success of “Victor Magtanggol,” the stunner is slated to co-star with Kapuso hunk Tom Rodriguez.
Gutierrez reveals that this project will be her first time on the prosthetics chair, as the “Dragon Lady” role requires an impressive transformation. She is set to play a Filipino-Chinese heiress who has dragon-like features, and maybe even powers of fire.
“Sobrang nakakaaliw kasi, ako mismo, fan ako manood ng mga costume transformations sa internet, ‘yung nakaupo sila sa makeup chair, ‘tapos naka-time lapse ‘yung paglagay ng prosthetics,” said the starlet.
“First time ko na ako naman ‘yung gagawan ng ganun.
“Medyo matagal yung trabaho pero pagkakita ko dun sa results talagang ang galing nung prosthetics and excited akong makita niyo.”
She added, “Bukod sa pagiging isang dragon lady na talagang may mysteryo at may kaakibat na fantasy ‘yung anyo niya, lalabas din ‘yung pagiging dragon lady niya sa pagiging matapang, sa pagiging palaban.”
