ILOILO – The most wanted person in the municipality of Janiuay was killed by policemen who were tasked to serve his arrest warrant for murder.
Wolly Armada of Barangay Quipot, Janiuay died of multiple gunshot wounds around 6 p.m. on April 25 in Barangay Trangka, Maasin town.
According to Police Lieutenant Nelson Caro, Maasin police chief, Armada fought back, leaving his men with no other option but shoot the fugitive.
Armada’s arrest warrant was issued in 2007 yet, two years after the 2005 incident which led to his being charged with murder, said Caro.
“We recently received information that the suspect was in Barangay Trangka so my men went there to serve the arrest warrant. Armada fired at my policemen while running away so they fired back,” said Caro.
Armada was hit on the neck and a leg.
Caro told Panay News the Maasin police station further received information that Armada became a member of an “armed and dangerous group” hiding in the mountains of Maasin and Janiuay.
