Japan B. League: Kiefer Ravena, Shiga bow to Niigata Albirex BB

MANILA – Ilonggo Kiefer Ravena’s double-double performance failed to extend the Shiga Lakes’ winning streak in Japan B.League Division 2 as they bowed to the Niigata Albirex BB, 92-81, on Sunday afternoon at the City Hall Plaza Ao-re Nagaoka.

The former NLEX Road Warriors guard finished with 11 points and 10 assists to go with three rebounds and two steals, but the Lakes still saw their nine-game winning run snapped to drop to a 24-8 record.

Stacy Davis top-scored for Niigata with 23 points; Kevin Hunt and Zen Endo had 20 and 13 points, respectively; and Katsumi Takahashi and Io Nagano tallied 12 points each. They moved up to 5-27 in the standings.

Brock Motum posted a double-double of 28 points and 11 rebounds, while Ryan Kriener added 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakes, which faded in the second half despite leading by as much as 10 points.

Roosevelt Adams, meanwhile, failed to sustain his offense as the Yamagata Wyverns bowed to the Aomori Watts, 91-81, over at the Sanyu Engineer Sports and Culture Center.

The former PBA top-overall pick managed to contribute three points in almost 26 minutes of play as a starter as the Wyverns dropped to 18-14. The Watts improved to 17-15.

In Division 1 action, Rhon Jay Abarrientos exploded offensively in a losing cause as the Shinshu Brave Warriors sustained another lopsided defeat to the Alvark Tokyo (27-4), 81-63, at the Matsumoto City Gymnasium.

The former Far Eastern University Tamaraws guard had his best offensive game so far this 2024, as he posted 19 points, including five three-pointers, to go with six assists for the Brave Warriors, now with a 5-26 record.

Matthew Wright, for his part, had another great offensive game from the three-point area, but the Kyoto Hannaryz (9-22) still suffered a 100-93 overtime loss to the Gunma Crane Thunders (14-17) at the Kataoka Arena Kyoto.

The former Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters guard drilled five outside shots en route to team high 23 points, while Kai Jones tallied 20 points and eight rebounds in Hannryz’s defeat./PN
