MANILA – Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins are on a roll in the 2021-2022 Japan B.League. It defeated Osaka Evessa 108-84 on Wednesday night at the Ookini Arena Maishima.
The former TNT Tropang Giga guard had another solid outing. He finished with 12 points, two rebounds, and two steals as the Diamond Dolphins notched its eighth straight win for a 17-7 record.
Coty Clarke top-scored for the Diamond Dolphins with 23 points to go with nine rebounds and six assists. Takumi Saito had 18 points, while both Scott Eatherton and Tatsuya Ito got 13 points each.
From a 46-all score at the half, the Diamond Dolphins outscored Evessa 36-15 with Clarke contributing 10 markers. Tenketsu Harimoto and Taito Nakahigashi both had six points each in the period.
DJ Newbill finished with 26 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a block, while Ira Brown and Perry Ellis added 15 points each as Evessa dropped to 12-12 win-loss slate.
Meanwhile, Filipino-Japanese center Matthew Aquino and Shinshu Brave Warriors snapped their nine-game losing skid with a 98-69 domination over Kyoto over at the Kotobuki Arena Chikuma.
Aquino, who previously played for Adamson University Falcons and National University Bulldogs in the UAAP, played for only four minutes and finished with three points and two rebounds.
Josh Hawkinson topscored Shinshu with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Tatsuya Nishiyama and Louis Kurihara got 17 points each as they improved to 10-14 win-loss slate.
Fielding a complete lineup this time around, the Brave Warriors went on a strong start propelled to take a 29-19 lead that later grew to 50-35 at the half. Shinshu did not let up in the second half, leading by as much as 29 points to close out the game.
David Simon paced Kyoto with 24 points and nine rebounds while former NBA cager Justin Harper got 20 points and five rebounds. They suffered their 21st defeat in 24 matches./PN
