MANILA – Ilonggo Kiefer Ravena had a better offensive showing as the Yokohama B-Corsairs defeated the Nagasaki Velca, 79-75, in the Japan B.League Division 1 on Saturday at the Happiness Arena.
The former NLEX Road Warriors guard finished with 12 points, including two three-point conversions, to go with five assists and two rebounds as the B-Corsairs improved to a 10-17 win-loss slate.
“Playing against Nagasaki was a good test for us, everybody stepped up and we just have to continue the energy when we play them again tomorrow,” Ravena said in a post-game interview.
“Individually, I just stepped up for my team, our coaches put me in a good situation where I can be effective, and I am just maximizing the opportunity given to me,” he added.
Damien Inglis led the B-Corsairs with a double-double of 23 points and 15 rebounds, while Gary Clark and Koya Sudo contributed 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Yudai Baba finished with 18 points to lead the Velca, Jarrell Brantley added 16 markers, while AJ Edu ended with nine points and seven rebounds as the Velca dropped to 13-14.
Bobby Ray Parks Jr., meanwhile, finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, and three assists as Osaka Evessa (14-13) suffered a 78-75 defeat to Kyoto Hannaryz (14-13).
Kai Sotto ended with 10 points, eight rebounds, and four assists as Koshigaya Alphas (8-19) sustained a lopsided 89-54 defeat to Seahorses Mikawa (19-8).
Matthew Wright contributed 11 points in Kawasaki Brave Thunders’ (6-21) 82-61 defeat to Sendai 89ers (7-20), while Dwight Ramos was held scoreless as Levanga Hokkaido (9-18) lost to Chiba Jets (18-9), 75-67./PN
