ILOILO City – In Barangay M.H. Del Pilar, Jaro district a suspected collector of bets for the illegal numbers game “bookies” was arrested.
Around 6:40 p.m. on Nov. 11, the 36-year-old Sherry Amor Senosa of Barangay Benedicto, Jaro was taken to the district police station.
According to the police, they caught the suspect in the act of soliciting bets for “bookies.”
They seized from Senosa pieces of paper, a pen and P250 cash.
Senosa faces a charge for violating Republic 9287 that outlaws illegal gambling, specifically Section 3 (c).
If found guilty by the court for being a collector or agent (cabo, cobrador, coriador or variants thereof), Senosa faces the penalty of imprisonment from eight years and one day to 10 years./PN
