BACOLOD City — Jast Enterprises defeated JSY Countertrade, 82-73, to register four straight wins, even as Basecom survived Royal Star Trading, 85-79, in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade, Inc. Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.
Balance offense was the key of Jast winning all four quarters Tuesday en route to its fourth straight wins. It took the half, 44-30 and 61-50, in the third quarter.
Yan Yan Dy paced Jast with 21 points; Edward Uy added 18; Joel Masadia, 12; Jolly Castillo, 10; and Beejay Paredes, eight.
Countertrade was led by Jappy Cuaycong with 21 points; Bermudez hit 11; Daniel Ong, 10; Kieron Tan and Mark Velez picked up seven apiece.
In the other match, Basecom battled Royal Star Trading height and heft advantage of Royal Star Trading to improve to 3-2. Royal dropped to 1-3 win-loss cards.
Royal took the first quarter, 25-21, with Ren Ren Lacson sniping 25 points, but regained the lead and even took the half, 42-41, ignited by Ervin Tan, Kerwin Guillon and Biboy Uysang.
Lead changes took place with Basecom remain on top, 60-58, going to the fourth quarter.
Lacson strung up seven straight points to give Royal advantage, 71-66, midway in the payoff quarter, but Basecom responded with stirring 9-0 runs punctuated by Chief Supt. Adonis Rosales’ shot clock beater corner trey.
Royal went down to its third defeat after failing their outside shots and offensive follow-up.
Rosales top scored with 20 points; RJ Iligan added 19; Guillon, 12; Dr. Emil Guanzon and Uy Sang scored 10 each, while Tan had eight.
Lacson scored 27 for Royal Star Trading; Berto Uy and Eugene Tsai made 10 each; Johann Villanueva, nine; Micmic Germudo, eight; and Timothy Chua, six./PN
