ROXAS City – Investigators are looking into jealousy as motive in a man’s death believed to be a suicide case in Barangay Poblacion, President Roxas, Capiz.

The 31-year-old Anthony Cayabyab was found hanging inside a nipa hut with a rope tied around his neck around 5 a.m. on Saturday, said municipal police chief Senior Inspector Armando Clavaton.

Cayabyab, a laborer working in the village, was then rushed to the Bailan District Hospital where the attending physician pronounced him “dead on arrival.”

According to village chief Jeffry de la Cruz, Cayabyab’s employer was the one who discovered the victim’s body.

The employer, who was not named, was trying to wake Cayabyab up at the time.

He sensed that something was off and peeped through a hole only to find Cayabyab hanging.

Clavaton said Cayabyab has attempted to kill himself before by jumping off a coconut tree due to jealousy.

Cayabyab has a live-in partner the police identified as Maria Leziel Desiderio, who went to Iloilo last Friday to attend a birthday party.

Naglakat iya asawa sa Iloilo kay nagpamirthday kag wala makapuli kag bangod sa sunlog sang iya mga kaupdanan, posible amo ang rason sang iya pagbigti,” Clavaton said./PN
