ILOILO City – Three hundred fifty-five grams of suspected shabu valued at around P2.414 million were seized from a jeepney driver in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Cubay, Bingawan, Iloilo past 2 p.m. yesterday.
Bingawan police identified the drug suspect as alias Pit-pit, a resident of the town’s Barangay Poblacion.
According to Police Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor, the director of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), Pit-pit was tagged as a high-value target and was under surveillance for a long time after receiving reports that he possessed huge volume of illegal drugs.
“Our men were able to get an asset that penetrated the suspect’s group that resulted to the arrest of our target,” Villaflor told Panay News yesterday.
The suspect was detained at the Bingawan Municipal Police Station, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Villaflor congratulated the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) for a job well done against illegal drugs.
“Ipagpatuloy po natin ang pagtutulungan – kapulisan at mamamayan – para sa ating kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga. Ang lahat ng ito ay para sa mas ligtas at mas magandang kinabukasan ng ating mga anak,” the region’s top cop added./PN
