ILOILO – A public utility jeepney and a sedan figured in an accident on the bypass road in Barangay Gines Patag, Cabatuan town on Sunday evening, November 17.
According to Staff Sergeant Linel M. Tormon of the Cabatuan Municipal Police Station, the incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m.
Tormon said the jeepney driven by 69-year-old Gerardo Castor, a resident of San Julian Street, Janiuay, was en route to Janiuay from Iloilo City while the Mitsubishi sedan driven by Sammy Lagaña, 44, a company driver residing in Barangay Jibolo, Janiuay, was traveling from Janiuay to Maasin town
Investigation revealed that the sedan allegedly overlapped into the jeepney’s lane, resulting in a collision. Police said both vehicles suffered deformed front left fenders and blown front tires. Also, the jeepney’s right signal light was broken and the car’s front bumper was detached.
Tormon added that despite the extensive damage to both vehicles, no injuries were reported.
