Jitney swerves due to malfunctioning steering wheel

ILOILO – A Suzuki passenger jitney swerved in Barangay Duyanduyan, Santa Barbara, town around 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

The vehicle was conveying his passengers from the Iloilo Airport to Bangga Dama, Barangay San Sebastian, Santa Barbara when the accident happened.

The Santa Barbara Municipal Police Station (MPS) identified the driver as Romeo Carbon, 55, of Barangay Lo-ong, Concepcion town.

Carbon lost control of the vehicle after the steering wheel malfunctioned.

Sa amon imbestigasyon, na-lock ni kuno ang steering wheel sang salakyan rason nga wala na ma-control or nadulaan control ang driver nga gintuna-an sang insidente,” said Police Major Jose Rey Pabalan, Santa Barbara MPS chief.

Carbon also crashed onto the perimeter fence of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.

Passengers of the jitney sustained minor wounds.

“May mga negotiations nga natabu sa driver kag sa mga pasahero niya kay, te, daw loaded ini siya sang passengers that time. Kag so far may gin-agree-han man sila nga sabton sang driver ang pagpabulong,” Pabalan added./PN
