JKT, Marby Arcade tame Fil-Sino foes

BACOLOD City — Aldrian Tan became a two-time hero when he bailed out Johann Kendrick Tan against Eversure Marketing, 85-83, in overtime of the Class B division, while Marby Arcade La Salle knocked out 365 Modern Café, 87-85, in the ongoing Fil-Sino Intercompany Friendship Cup at Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Tan recovered an inbound pass in time to score from 18-footer jumper in the right corner to seal the fourth victory of JKT in five games.

He also forced the overtime that ended at 75-all.

Eversure’s Garret Tabanao drilled two free throws with 1.5 seconds left to tie the count at 83-all.

Eversure even had a 20-point led in the second quarter and settled at the break, 45-34, with Andre Tan, Tubby Villanueva and Beejay Paredes combining for 30 points.

But JKT, with only six players, came close and Aldrian Tan forced the overtime.

JKT was led by Luigi Coo with 26 points. Tan added 20; Errol Su, 13; Chua, 11; Chingsan Su, eight; and Biboy Uysang, six.

Tubby Villanueva paced Eversure with 17. Tabanao added 15; Paredes, 15; Andre Tan, 11; Richard Tan and Berto Uy, 10 each; and Glenn Yee, eight.

In Class A encounter, Marby Arcade La Salle got the hero from Jappy Cuaycong layup with 2 seconds to beat 365 Modern Café.

Marby, sporting a 4-1 win-loss card, led the first quarter, 32-22, but 365 roared back in the take the lead at the break, 48-47.

Marby again took the led, 64-62, in the third quarter and led changes going to the fourth quarter.

Robbie Jalando-on gave the last lead for 365, but Oliver Manaloto tied it at 85-all with his free throws.

Manaloto and Cuaycong had 15 points each. Mark Velez added 12; Ritchie Militante, 11; Mark Binguan, eight; and Bren Tajonera and Pao Pao Lim, six apiece.

365 Modern Café is led by Jalandoon with 17; Franklyn Madrid, 15; Michael Ang, 13; Yan Yan Dy, 12; Biboy Yap, eight; and Dr. Chico Coruña, six.
