ANGELICA Panganiban and JM de Guzman drew upon their personal experiences as they turned candid about how they have moved on from failed relationships.
After doing an online script reading of “That Thing Called Tadhana” for Lockdown Cinema Nights on Sunday, the two gamely answered questions from netizens about dealing with a breakup.
According to Panganiban, she likes to travel to divert her attention.
“Nakakatulong sa akin ‘yung pagbiyahe, ‘yung pagbago ng environment. So far nung huling heartbreak ko, ‘yun ang naging pinaka-effective talaga. Mahal nga lang. At saka dasal. Lord, tulungan mo na ako, tapusin mo na ‘to,” she said.
Panganiban, however, refused to call herself an expert when it comes to breakups.
“Hindi naman ako expert sa pagmu-move on. Lagi lang ako nagmu-move on. So baka eventually maging expert na rin nga talaga ako,” she said in jest.
With a life that’s become an open book since her childhood, Panganiban has made no secret of her heartbreaks over failed relationships as well as the lessons she learned from them.
Panganiban has three known former boyfriends who are also in showbiz: Carlo Aquino, Derek Ramsay, and John Lloyd Cruz.
Meanwhile, de Guzman acknowledged that his moving on process isn’t something to emulate.
“Mali-mali ‘yung mga proseso ko noon pero natuto na ako. Iba ‘yung proseso ko dati, pa-self destruct eh,” he said.
The actor, however, explained that he does not regret going through that rough patch in his life.
“Feeling ko kailangan kong pagdaanan ‘yun, ma-experience ‘yun para meron ka ng awareness na may posibilidad ka palang pwedeng maging ganun kapag na-in love ka or nasaktan ka. So mas malakas ‘yung reflex ko ngayon doon,” he said.
When asked if he feels a broken heart needs another heart to mend it, de Guzman said: “No. All you need is yourself and God. Kailangan sapat na ‘yung love mo sa sarili mo, hindi ka dedepende sa puso ng iba.”(ABS-CBN)
