Job fair goes face-to-face this June 10

ILOILO City – The provincial government’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) will hold a face-to-face job fair on June 10 at Robinsons Place Jaro from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. – its first since the pandemic struck two years ago.

An initial 5,284 job vacancies in 63 companies (of May 18) are up for grabs, said PESO-Iloilo headed Francisco Heler Jr.

Of the 63 participating companies, 48 are local, nine are business process outsourcing (BPO) and six are overseas.

Local companies are in need of administrative or accounting staff, loan or accounts officers, management trainees, civil or site project engineers, warehouse staff, and security camera operators, among others.

Overseas jobs available include restaurant workers, auto mechanics, chefs, nurses, electricians, plumbers, hairdressers, manicurists, cleaners, draftsmen, cashiers, and supervisors, among others.

Also at the job fair area, the provincial government will set up public helpdesks of the following government agencies:

* Philippine Overseas Employment Administration

* Department of Foreign Affairs

* Philippine Statistics Authority

* PhilHealth

* Social Security System

* Bureau of Internal Revenue

* Professional Regulation Commission

* Department of Trade and Industry

* National Bureau of Investigation

* Technical Education and Skills Development Authority

Heler urged local government units (LGUs) to provide free rides to their constituents interested to participate in the job fair.

LGUs that have so far signified interest are Anilao, Barotac Nuevo, Cabatuan, Calinog, Lambunao, Maasin, Miag-ao, Passi City, San Dionisio, Santa Barbara, Sara, and Tigbauan.

Heler said public health safety protocols would be strictly enforced – wearing of facemask and physical distancing./PN
