GUIMARAS ISLAND, January 10,2024- One hundred nineteen Job order (JO) and contract of service (COS) workers of the Municipality of Jordan are now registered as self-employed members of the Social Security System (SSS) after the municipal government signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) under the KaSSSangga Collect Program.
The coverage program caters to JOs and COS workers who have no insurance benefits under the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS). Under the MOA, the Municipality of Jordan shall be responsible in the collection and remittance of Social Security (SS) and Employees’ Compensation (EC) contribution to SSS Iloilo Central Branch through monthly salary deduction scheme.
The remitted contributions will qualify the JO and COS workers for SS benefits such as sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, death, and funeral, including EC benefits for work-connected contingencies like sickness, disability, and death. They are also entitled to apply for salary and calamity loan for immediate financial needs.
As of date, there are now 30 LGUs in the city and province of Iloilo who have partnered with the SSS’ KaSSSangga Collect Program.
