ILOILO City – The four elected councilors who are allies of exiting Mayor Jose Espinosa III joined yesterday’s inauguration of Mayor-elect Jerry Treñas.

Councilor Eduardo Peñaredondo and Councilor Lyndon Acap took their oath of office together with Treñas’ winning councilors before Supreme Court Associate Justice Francis Jardeleza at around 9 a.m. at the Iloilo Convention Center in Mandurriao district.

The two other allies of Espinosa, councilors Mandrie Malabor and Candice Magdalene Tupas, also attended Treñas’ inauguration but did not take their oath as they already did so weeks ago before their Nacionalista Party leader, Sen. Cynthia Villar.

Peñaredondo reiterated his previous statement that he would be supportive of the Treñas administration.

“It has been my policy that whoever is the mayor nagabulig gid ako,” he stressed./PN
