Japhet Sampiano calmly sank two go-ahead free throws with nine seconds left in the game for John B. to escape with a 63-62 victory over Western Institute of Technology on Monday at the latter’s gym in Iloilo City.
Chad Mark Lingga led John B. with 19 points while Hilton John Cartagena chipped in 10 markers as they surged to a 3-1 win-loss slate. WIT, meanwhile, dropped to 2-2.
Iloilo Doctors’ College, meanwhile, tied with WIT on second place after a slim 71-68 victory over University of San Agustin.
Lorence Nicole Magtolis led the Doctors’ scoring with 15 points as Christian Rey Lanza chipped in 14 markers. San Agustin slipped to the fourth and last spot with a 1-3 card.
