BACOLOD City – Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz is inviting the mayors of 31 local government units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental to attend the coronavirus disease 2019 vaccination simulation exercise tomorrow, March 12, at the Cansilayan National High School in Murcia town.
“As for the actual time, we do not know yet because we are still confirming the schedules,” Diaz said.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer would be present in the event.
Murcia – a first class municipality – was chosen to host the vaccination simulation exercise as it was “strategically located in the center of the province” thus accessible to all participating LGUs.
Last week, Lacson ordered the activation of the COVID-19 Vaccination Task Force that will lead the province in systematically and efficiently utilizing the vaccination strategy to combat the virus and also in the preparation for the arrival of the ordered vaccines.
He added that after almost a year of battle against the virus, the provincial government is proud of its accomplishments as he lauded the frontliners, leaders, and managers for being steadfast in their tasks and for their dedication in answering the needs of the time.
“At this time, we are given another armor in the battle against COVID-19 and that is the vaccine. It is important that our people get vaccinated,” the governor said.
The provincial government has ordered 100,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines, primarily intended for capitol-run district hospitals.
In February, the provincial government paid more than P4 million as 20 percent advance payment for the vaccines.
As of March 8, Negros Occidental has 6,914 confirmed cases, of which 124 are active.
Some 6,575 have recovered while 215 are fatalities, records of the Provincial Incident Management Team showed.(PNA/PN)
