MANILA – Mighty Sports-Go For Gold-Philippines kept its unbeaten slate in the 2019 William Jones Cup after a 94-66 domination of Indonesia at the Xinzhuang Gymnasium in Taipei, Taiwan.

Eugene Phelps top-scored with 19 points and nine rebounds on Friday.

Renaldo Balkman added 17 markers while Joseph Yeo fired four triples to finish with 14 markers for the Philippine squad.

The Charles Tiu-mentored squad thus moved two wins closer from bagging the crown with two games remaining against Chinese Taipei White and Chinese Taipei Blue.

The Philippines surged to a 16-9 start with seven straight points from Phelps. It grew to 27-13 at the end of the period with Jeremiah Grey and Gabriel Banal making their contributions.

The Indonesians still did not have answers for the Philippines in the second period with Yeo hoisting back-to-back triples and Hamady N’Diaye scoring inside for a 45-30 halftime edge.

The lead grew further for the Mighty Sports-Philippines in the second half with Phelps and Yeo making their outside hits and Balkman and Grey penetrating through the Indonesian defense.

Juan Laurent Kokodiputra tallied 21 points, while Muhammad Indra added 11 markers as the Indonesians dropped to 1-5 slate. They missed the services of naturalized player CJ Giles./PN
