MANILA – Terrence Jones promised to keep his focus as the TNT KaTropa shoots for a 3-1 lead in Game 4 of the 2019 Honda PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals against San Miguel Beermen tonight at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Jones, who was on the receiving end of the Beermen’s cheap shots in KaTropa’s 115-105 Game 3 win on Friday, said he will just let his game do the talking if ever the opposition employs the same tactic in their 6:30 p.m. match tonight.
“I’m just here trying to win,” said the former Houston Rockets forward. “I love this game, I’m not giving any credit to any dirty player. I want to continue talking about basketball.”
He added: “Game by game we are trying to win, and we did that (in Game 3). We just try to move forward and win Game 4.”
Jones registered 37 points, 18 rebounds, nine assists, and five blocks in Game 3.
He was several times hit by different Beermen players in Game 3 — including Beermen centers June Mar Fajardo and Christian Standhardinger who both elbowed the TNT import in the rib area.
Jones also refused to be affected with the “mentally baby” comment from Beermen guard Chris Ross, who has been trying to get into the skin of the KaTropa import since Game 1.
“I have nothing to say about that. I wanna continue talking about basketball and give credit to my teammates on what we’re doing to fight through and continue trying to get wins,” Jones said.
“I think Troy (Rosario) had a great game, I think Roger (Pogoy) had a great game. I think Don (Trollano) played an excellent game today. And Jayson (Castro) of course,” he added. “Hope we can all do it again in Game 4.”/PN
