ILOILO City – A computer shop and funeral home were placed on lockdown in the municipality of Jordan, Guimaras. Some workers of these establishments tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Town mayor Ruben Corpuz in his Executive Order No. 54 placed the areas on stringent quarantine measures for two weeks beginning Sept. 28 to stop the virus from spreading.
“Due to the contact tracing in the following locations, it is deemed necessary that Heidi Computer Shop in Barangay Rizal and St. Dominic Funeral Homes in Barangay San Miguel should be put on lockdown,” said Corpuz.
Under his latest directive, Corpuz ordered the following measures:
* All individuals in the said location are not allowed to go out and shall undergo strict home quarantine for 14 days.
* Only Health Personnel from the Municipal Health Team are allowed to contact the individuals in these locations for constant monitoring.
* Food Supply will be provided by the Municipal Government of Jordan in the duration of the 14-day lockdown.
* Violation of this order will be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law and other issuances appertaining to COVID-19 response.
The lockdown came after a 68-year-old woman from Barangay Rizal diagnosed with COVID-19 succumbed to the viral illness on Sept. 22 – the first recorded coronavirus casualty in the island province.
This patient had five close contacts from Barangay Rizal and two others from Barangay San Miguel – they were all asymptomatic and isolated at the town’s quarantine facility.
As of Monday, Sept. 28, Jordan has a total of 32 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 17 of which are active, 14 recovered and one died./PN
