Iloilo City— Josmef, a homegrown Ilonggo brand specializing in the distribution of medical equipment, devices and pharmaceuticals in the Philippines, joyfully commemorated its 30th founding anniversary on June 23 and 24, 2023, in Iloilo City. The company was founded by a Nigerian national, Mr. Joshua Ajayi, and his wife, Merly, a full-blooded Ilongga. The business was first located at Door 10 of Lopez Arcade, Jaro, Iloilo City. From its humble beginnings, the two-man team later expanded with more employees. Joining their parents in the journey, Franklin and Quennie Ajayi played an integral role in the company’s growth and development.
On June 23, 2023, as early as 5:30 a.m., the 250-strong Josmef workforce, some of whom traveled from various parts of the country, gathered in front of the main branch located on E. Lopez St., Jaro, Iloilo City, for a corporate pictorial. A breakfast reception followed at Joe Garden in Villa, Iloilo City.
The highlight of the anniversary celebration was the grand Gala Dinner, appropriately named “A Night of Thanksgiving, Celebrating 30 years of God’s Grace.” It was graced by the Nigerian Ambassador to the Philippines, Her Excellency Folakemi I. Akinleye (FCA), who gave the keynote speech. Atty. David Abraham Garcia represented the Iloilo City Mayor’s Office. In attendance were partners in the healthcare industry: esteemed doctors and administrators from different healthcare institutions in Iloilo City, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (Cebu), Southern Philippines Medical Center (Davao), Amai Pakpak Medical Center (Marawi), Eastern Visayas Memorial Medical Center (Tacloban), guests, and friends.
The celebration continued the following day at the Ateneo de Iloilo Gym, where Josmef held their sportsfest. The four competing teams were the Red Team (Admin, Finance, and Engineering), Blue Team (Sales and Marketing), Green (Supply Chain Department), and Yellow (Josmef Pharma Inc., Aqueheart, and Woundcare). The red team won the cheers and yells, and the Blue Team was declared the overall champion.
