MANILA – Jovin Bedic seemed to have solidified his slot in the Philippine Azkals – he got another call-up for the AFF Suzuki Cup next week at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

Best remembered for his game-winning goal for Kaya FC-Iloilo in the recent 2018 PFL Copa Paulino Alcantara finals, Bedic is one of the 29 players in the pool of newly appointed Swedish coach Sven Goran Eriksson.

It was the fourth straight national men’s football stint for Bedic, a native of Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, after getting tapped in friendlies with Bahrain and Oman and the 2018 Bangabandhu Cup in Bangladesh.

Eleven players from Ceres Negros FC are also part of the pool: Curt Dizon, Patrick Reichelt, OJ Porteria, Mike Ott, Manny Ott, Kevin Ingreso, Stephan Schrock, Paul Mulders, Amani Aguinaldo, Carli de Murga, and Martin Steuble.

Others in the roster are Philip and James Younghusband, Dennis Villanueva, Marco Casambre, and Patrick Deyto of Davao Aguilas FC, and Adam Tull and Jarvey Gayoso of Ateneo de Manila University.

International players called up include Neil Etheridge, Michael Falkesgaard, Stephan Palla, Javier Patino, Daisuke Sato, Luke Woodland, John-Patrick Strauss, Iain Ramsay, Misagh Bahadoran, and Alvaro Silva.

The Azkals will open their campaign in the Suzuki Cup with a pair of home matches – against Singapore on Nov. 13 and powerhouse Thailand on Nov. 21. They will also play on the road against Timor Leste (Nov. 17) and Indonesia (Nov. 25)./PN
