JUDY Ann Santos bagged the award for her role in a film directed by Brillante Mendoza, “Mindanao.” She played a Muslim woman who must look after her sick daughter, while her husband works as a medic in a conflict zone.
The official Facebook page of “Mindanao” shared the news, along with photos of the trophies., because the film also won the prize for Best Artistic Contribution.
Judy Ann was emotional on Instagram, talking about how she reacted when she heard the news.
“Yung nagising ako kaninang umaga nang gulat na gulat at takang-taka kung bakit ako kino-congratulate ng napakaraiming kaibigan ko sa text,” she wrote. “Hindi naman ako buntis, hindi naman ako kasali sa SEA Games. Hindi rin naman ako nanalo sa lotto. Mas higit pa pala sa lotto ang napanalunan ko!”

Nora Aunor has also won the Best Actress award in 1995 for her role in “The Flor Contemplation Story,” making Judy Ann the second actress to have won the prestigious award. (Cosmo)
