JULIA Barretto will be the next Kapamilya star to headline a film from Black Sheep, the studio behind “Exes Baggage” and “Alone/Together.”
Barretto, 21, is the only star so far announced by Black Sheep, which also revealed that Jason Paul Laxamana will helm the project.
“This just in: We have a new Sheepmate on the block!” Black Sheep tweeted on Wednesday, tagging Barretto, and teasing that another cast member will have a separate announcement.
Barretto’s last film project was “I Love You, Hater,” which saw her third big-screen outing with onscreen partner and rumored boyfriend Joshua Garcia.
While fans of the “JoshLia” tandem are speculating that Garcia will co-star with Barretto in the new Black Sheep film, others said they look forward to a fresh casting combination.
Barretto will juggle this yet-titled project with the zombie apocalypse movie by Mikhail Red, “Block Z,” which also stars Garcia.
Laxamana is behind the Black Sheep film “To Love Some Buddy,” starring Maja Salvador and Zanjoe Marudo. Previously, he directed the box-office hits “100 Tula Para Kay Stella” and “The Third Party,” among others. (ABS-CBN News)
