WHEN it was announced that Julia Barretto will be doing a romance movie, many were surprised that it wasn’t with Joshua Garcia, her love team partner whom she has shared most of the better part of her showbiz career with.
No, it was with Gerald Anderson.
In a press conference for their movie, “Between Maybes,” Barretto was asked about how she told Garcia about the project.
She said she didn’t tell him immediately because she wanted to make sure that there wasn’t going to be any last minute change.
“I wanted to make sure na once I tell Josh, sure na na iyong actor na iyon ang gagawa,” she said, adding: “To be very honest, natuwa siya na it was Gerald. Natuwa siya kasi it was with somebody a couple of years older than me, rather than kasing age ko.”
She did say that Garcia, also her real-life boyfriend, is supportive of their forays outside of their pairing.
“Being in a love team, it can really do a lot of things for you; it can take you to so many places where madaming kang matututunan, and you’ll be thankful for that experience,” she explained.
“But alam namin ni Josh na sooner or later, sa journey namin talaga, darating iyong time na magkakaroon kami ng kanya kanyang projects and we respect that. Kasi pareho naming mahal iyong ginagawa namin. It’s what best for us, iyong growth namin.” (ABS-CBN News)
