MANILA – The Negrense forward Carlos Miguel Segador sees the opportunity to play for Lyceum of the Philippines Junior Pirates in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) junior’s basketball as a step closer to his dream.

The Talisay City, Negros Occidental-native forward said his transfer to Manila has moved him closer to the fulfillment of his desire to be a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player someday.

The 6-foot-1 Segador was discovered by the Junior Pirates coaching staff after recommendations made by Tata Belangel of TJ7 Basketball Skills Training Center and Vincent Setier of Talisay Knights.

“I know na maraming mas magagaling na players sa Manila so I want to take it as a challenge since nakikita ko ang sarili ko na maglalaro sa PBA someday,” the Negrense cager said.

The 17-year-old Segador is the second Negrense player to be recruited by the Junior Pirates aside from Bago City, Negros Occidental-native Ivan Macabani, who is also being trained by Belangel.

“Carlos has three more years to play for Lyceum’s high school team,” Belangel said in an interview with Panay News. “I personally recommended him to (Lyceum) coach Topex (Robinson).”

Segador and Macabani will join fellow Western Visayas-based recruits John Patino and John Nayr Magarse of Santa Clarita International School Primes./PN
