AND WHY shouldn’t you, when you probably are not one of the 16 million who elected him as President of the Philippines. This 16 million could have been 21 million votes if not for that much daunted bailiwick of the Liberal Party, the precinct count optical scanners or PCOS machines, according to columnist Teddy Boy Locsin.
Chances are, no, most probably, you voted for Mar “Daang Matuwid” Roxas although there are a few who voted for Grace Llamanzares that hate Duterte with the same fervor.
You might be Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines or CBCP president Bishop Socrates Villegas, maybe one of his relatives, his girlfriend or boyfriend, probably all of the above.
From “careless whispers” he is one of those, if not the one, espousing for the sainthood of Tita Cory Aquino. Then I guess I am not surprised.
This also makes one wonder why Tita Cory Aquino should be canonized as a saint.
They say she’s a martyr. I supposed being the wife of that demagogue Ninoy Aquino and mother of that nincompoop Noynoy qualified her as one.
Of course, being the mother, husband or lover of Kris automatically makes one a martyr.
And speaking of martyrs, Mar “Daang Matuwid” Roxas, for being married to Korina Sanchez, is also one.
There is no doubt that Cynthia Patag and Jim Paredes hate President Rodrigo Duterte with the same zeal and vigor as their desire to resurrect their showbiz careers that never was in the first place.
These two has-beens never made it beyond supporting cast level in their prime, and unlike fine wine they never matured into something better or “aged to perfection” so to speak.
At the peak of the success and popularity of the pop musical group “Apo” which Jim Paredes was a member, everyone knows that the real talent and driving force is frontman Danny Javier who, by the way, is a Duterte supporter. Jim Paredes was just a pretty face and a background singer at best.
When “Apo” finally went their separate ways, Jim Paredes tried doing solo which, of course, failed until he eventually migrated to Australia and tried to make a living there as a guitar teacher which, of course, failed.
And those is why, folks, he went back to the Philippines and hitch his tail to the “Daang Matuwid” camp in the hope that with a Mar Roxas presidency he will have a juicy government post and resurrect his failed singing career and who knows, maybe launch an album from the New Bilibid Prison.
Cynthia Patag is something else. People remember her showbiz career as the butt of the joke in that TV series Palibhasa Lalake. Cynthia has been the subject of all the sexiest jokes of the show’s stars Richard Gomez and Joe Marquez. When the show finally ended its run and the stars went on to pursue other careers mostly political, an aging Cynthia was left in the cold so like Jimboy she also hitched her butt to “Daang Matuwid” with the hope that with she could reinvent herself as the “Meryl Streep” of the Philippines if Mar Roxas becomes Duterte.
And that is why, folks, these two “has-beens that never was” rabidly hate Duterte. And why shouldn’t they? Their dreams of a comeback went down the drain when Mar “Daang Matuwid” Roxas lost.
We won’t mention here Antonio Trillanes, Leila de Lima and the rest of the “yellow shirted” gang of thieves that suddenly lost their milking cows when Duterte became President. Everyone except the jaundiced few has seen through their antics.
Lest we forget, the “trendy social climbers”, so-called cause-oriented groups who just want to make themselves relevant when they could no longer shout “Ibagsak ang regimen US-Duterte!”, Digong beat them to the gun when he said, “Fuck off, America!”
And finally, the naive students of Ateneo de Manila and St. Scholastica Academy who hate Duterte because their school heads told them so. These are the students who took to the streets carrying placards bearing important socially relevant issues i.e. “Sandro Marcos is not handsome”, “Walang Nutribun” and bared their “little dicks” perhaps to bring awareness that indeed they have.
In parting, President Rodrigo Duterte has accomplished in his six months of office more than twice than his predecessor, that nincompoop Noynoy Aquino did in his six years in office. But then again, Noynoy spent 12 years in Congress and the Senate without a single law to his name.
I supposed they also hate Duterte for that./PN
