SO DESPITE the premature ejaculations…err…I mean celebrations and a not-so-subtle public announcement during the Chinese New Year festivities, former World Mayor No. 5 Jed Patrick Mabilog is still on President Rodrigo Duterte’s list of narco-politicians.

For sure former Wold Mayor No. 5 Jed Patrick Mabilog is not on the second and new list of narco-politicians but he is definitely still high (pun intended) on the first and original list of narco-politicians.

So all those press releases were for naught as former World Mayor No. 5 Jed Patrick Mabilog was given a bum steer, somebody whispered to moi that a cruel joke was played on Jed. One can just imagine how Jed must have felt when his short-lived joy soon after came crashing down, really a bummer.

You got to hand it to Jed; other people in the same situation as he is would have probably hanged themselves but not Jed, he’s made of sterner stuff. Jed is still seen doing the “Digong” fist, espousing federalism and hoping that Cong. Jerry Treñas will get him an invite to the party of President Duterte.

“Hope springs eternal.” You know, for his resolve and determination Jed should be an ultra-marathon runner and not a politician as he does not easily give up. Why, if he puts that determination in getting his name off the narco-politicians list into running he could easily finished a 100km ultra-marathon with ease and still do the zumba afterwards.

And if that’s not enough, President Rodrigo Duterte once more singled out former World Mayor No. 5 Jed Patrick Mabilog as a “drug protector,” plus a not so subtle reference to Sen. Franklin Drilon.

Here’s an excerpt from a Panay News report on that:

“President Rodrigo Duterte once again linked Iloilo City mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog to the illegal drug trade.

“In a speech during the turnover of a drug rehabilitation facility in Davao del Norte, Duterte claimed that 6,000 police officers and 32 town mayors are leading drug operations in the Philippines.

“Showing a list allegedly containing names of ‘narco-politicians’, Duterte singled out Mabilog, whom he first tagged to the illicit trade in August last year.

“‘Naay mayor ug mga syudad. Ang usa diha ig-agaw ni Drilon, si Mayor Mabilog sa Iloilo City, ug daghan pa (The list also contains names of city mayors. One of them is the cousin of Drilon, Mayor Mabilog of Iloilo City, and many others),” the President said.

“Mabilog is a second cousin of Senate President Pro Tempore Franklin Drilon.”

Now I’m not saying that President Rodrigo Duterte’s special mention of former World Mayor No. 5 Jed Mabilog is the final nail to his coffin; it would probably be safe to speculate that it’s the second to the last nail in Jed’s coffin.

So you see Jed, I’m not giving up on you not just yet.

President Rodrigo Duterte’s singling out again of former World Mayor No. 5 Jed Patrick Mabilog and his subtle reference to Senator Drilon has created a buzz and a lot of speculations amongst the so-called political pundits in the coffee shops around “I Am Iloilo.”

First question asked: What about Cong. Jerry Treñas? Yes, what about Jerryboy, why isn’t he mentioned as everyone seems to say that he, Jed and Manong Frank move around in the same circles and seen in photos and social media posting with well-known “characters”?

Second question raised: Is this “foreplay” by President Rodrigo Duterte the start of something like “Le Affair Leila” for Manong Frank?

Looks like it seems to be moving that way as Sen. Franklin Drilon was just removed as Senate president pro tempore upon motion by Sen. Manny Pacquiao. Remember guys, “Le Affair Leila” started with also a motion by Sen. Manny Pacquiao removing Sen. Leila de Lima as chairman of the Committee on Justice.

We can all speculate; after all, it’s still a free country.

As for Former World Mayor No. 5 Jed Patrick Mabilog, he can always look forward to the coming Semana Santa and carry his cross literally, plus the added weight of Cong. Jerry Treñas and Sen. Franklin Drilon, a heavy burden indeed./PN
