JUST in, it seems that a ménage a trois has developed between erstwhile politician turned “organic farmer” Rommel Ynion, Cong. Jerry Treñas and Councilor Plaridel Nava but I won’t gatecrash into their party. I’ll just leave the “big boys” to have fun with their “little games”, boys, enjoy your pissing contest.
It seems that almost anyone interested in what going on in the islands have talked, analyzed and gave their opinions on that explosive and controversial “Deception” by the online blog group “We Are Collective.” To say that the almost “saintly and virtuous” image of that “Lady from Naga” “Vice President” Leni Robrdedo was shattered is an understatement.
The myth of her husband, the former mayor of Naga, the late Jessie Robredo as a true public servant was thrown to the dustbin of trapo politics.
So I supposed it is inevitable that moi gets into the groove and join the maddening crowd in talking about “Deception”, the life and times of Jessie Robredo or as someone mildly puts it “making money in times of jueteng” and add a little illegal drug money on the side.
Just to make it interesting I’ll do something different. I’ll compare Jessie Robredo and our very own, the former World Mayor No. 5 Jed Patrick Mabilog. After all both have one thing in common to start with, they’re both city mayors.
Jessie Robredo later on became the Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government or DILG when Noynoy Aquino became President. He died early in his career as DILG Secretary because of a mysterious plane crash. Of course, Jed Mabilog is very much alive, still is the mayor of “I Am Iloilo” and has most probably no intention to die just yet.
Both Jessie Robredo and Jed Mabilog are married but that’s the only similarity there as Jessie’s wife Leni is also a politician and managed to become the current Vice President mainly because of her constituents in the Precinct Count Optical Scanners or PCOS machines. Her current role now is mainly speaking up against anything particularly if it is connected to President Rodrigo Duterte. In her own way she’s quite pretty and attractive but it ends there.
Meanwhile, Marivic, Jed’s wife is not a politician and somehow managed to stay away from politics, confining herself to be seen with her husband on purely social functions. Unlike Leni, Marivic does not exhibit any tendencies for “necropolitics” and I’m pretty sure if Jed expires she will not use it to launch her political career. Despite all the issues hounding Jed, at least in my knowledge she managed to keep her cool. This I can say, Marivic Mabilog is a better person than Leni Robredo. Of course this is not a beauty contest.
While Jessie Robredo had Rudy Guinhawa fronting for him in 20 Lansbergh Place, Tomas Morato, Quezon City and Torre de Venezia in Timog Avenue also in Quezon City according to “Deception” by that online group “We Are Collective”, Jed Mabilog has, according to an “administrative case for grave misconduct and dishonesty” filed against him, has Patrick Alan Sy fronting for him in “Iloilo One Esplanade Reality Corporation” and “Iloilo Happy Haus Donut Corporation” just to name a few.
In this case both mayors not only believe but practice that saying, “what are we in power for”.
Jessie Robredo had his “Ramon Magsaysay Award” which, according to “Deception” by “We Are Collective”, was courtesy of the hard work and PR savvy of Naga City Councilor and loyal ally Gabby Bordado, and not because Jessie Robredo was an exemplary public official.
We have Jed Mabilog and his World Mayor 5th place courtesy of his 5,000 strong “job hires” who voted online for him in this contest.
These two guys have a lot of similarities when it comes to promoting themselves but I won’t comment on who is copying from who except to say that Jessie was already a mayor even before Jed became a councilor.
While Jessie had Juanito “Totoy” Ona as his hard man to go to when it comes to solving irritants that refused to go away – this was according to “Deception” by “We Are Collective” – Jed Mabilog has Jeffrey Celiz, the self-styled “communist” who “fattened” himself while in Jed’s employment and disappeared without a trace at the first sign of serious trouble for Jed.
Jessie Robredo had this penchant for wearing slippers (PR stunt, of course) his wife Leni goes around in naked feet.
Thank God, Jed Mabilog wears proper shoes!
Unlike Jessie Robredo who is already dead – how he died was, of course, another story – Jed Mabilog is alive and kicking today albeit he is top on President Duterte’s “list of drug protectors.” He still has a chance to reinvent himself and come out smelling like roses./PN
