PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte just gave a big middle finger and “up yours” to the so called disente and feeling elite social climbers. He made those feeling sosyal “yellow ribbon devotees” squirm in their Marks and Spencer knickers at the thought of addressing Margaux Justiniano Uson a.k.a. “Mocha” as “Ma’am”, “Miss” or “Madame Secretary”.
Maria Ressa and her motley crew at Rappler, Raisa Robles, ABS-CBN and Philippine Daily Inquirer staff and reporters and the rest of those inflicted with a severe case of entitlement must be green with envy and having sleepless nights already at this: Mocha Uson, Assistant Secretary, Presidential Communications Operations Office (long pause for effect…)
For those trying to pinch themselves awake, here’s what CNN reports:
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 9) — Celebrity blogger and staunch Duterte supporter Margaux “Mocha” Uson has been appointed Assistant Secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Tuesday.
“Malacañang released her appointment papers dated May 8.
Are you awake now? Or did I just jolt you from your wet dream of the “Mocha Girls” dancing at Cowboy Grill in Timog Avenue?
Mocha’s specific duty as an Assistant Secretary at the Presidential Communications Operations Office is to be in charge of social media and to serve as the bridge between the President and the netizens.
She will also be the President’s spokesperson in social media.
Of course, it is to be expected that Mocha’s appointment raised a lot of eyebrows particularly among the jaundiced disente social climbers in their attempt to appear politically correct; they focused mostly on the qualifications of Mocha Uson.
But Duterte being Duterte does not really care what these disente social climbers think or if he offended them. His appointment of Mocha Uson as Assistant Secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office is a slap right smack into their collagen-infused faces.
Is Mocha Uson really qualified to be in charge of President Rodrigo Duterte’s social media engagements and interactions?
She has five million engaged followers in social media, that’s twice the followers of ABS-CBN, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Philippine Star and Rappler combined. In short, she has mainstream media eating her dust.
She left them behind not by a mile but by a full marathon’s distance; this simply means that five million followers read her blogs and posts and engage by posting their comments.
So you’re a graduate of Mass Communications and have a lot of letters after your name and an aparador full of certificates, diplomas and titles all specializing in communications but you have about 10 followers in social media, including your mother, your yaya and your sister who was forced by your mother to add you, does that make you an effective communicator? I guess not!
I would like to particularly mention the Twitter comment of a certain Mariel de Leon who claims to be a beauty queen regarding the appointment of Mocha Uson as Assistant Secretary of the Presidential Communications Operation Office and here is her Twitter comment:
“There are so many other unbiased, educated and respected (and respectful) people who deserved her place.”
Is this Mariel de Leon describing the qualifications of a judge? As to be one you have to be a lawyer, meaning you graduated from law school and passed the Bar exams, so educated and impartial and unbiased as you have to decide on the merits of a case, not your personal biases.
However if you are part of the Cabinet of the President and his link and spokesperson for social media, it is de rigour that you have to be biased for him; it is a complete contradiction of your job as his alter ego if you are impartial. You are there to defend him, not other people.
The unbiased requirement of this Mariel de Leon for Mocha shows how stupid and ignorant she is. Anyway, what you expect? Beauty queens are traditionally airheads.
Ms. Mocha Uson is a Medical Technology graduate and into Medicine proper at the University of Santo Tomas, not educated enough for Mariel de Leon who happens to be a Cookery graduate, good God! So she’s an expert on pots and pans and greasy spatulas. It seems that Ms. Mariel de Leon has the same educational achievement as Sponge Bob.
Here’s what President Duterte has to say about his appointment of Mocha Uson amidst all the raised eyebrows of the so-called disente social climbers:
“Why? There’s nothing wrong with the woman, with the girl. She’s bright and she’s articulate. She was with me during the campaign. A little bit sexier than the others. But does that prevent anybody to deprive her of the honor that she deserve?”
And there you have it people, the key words are “a little bit sexier than the others.” Have you seen Maria Ressa and Raisa Robles? Of course you have. Now compare them with Mocha Uson and spot the difference. It’s the classic case of the sexy, beautiful and popular girl versus the plain, ugly and fat wallflowers.
Mocha Uson is the Maria Sharapova of Philippine social media and the ugly ones i.e. Maria Ressa and Raisa Robles, were left in the wayside biting her dust. As for Mariel de Leon, she’s just an idiot trying to be politically correct. (brotherlouie16@gmail.com/PN)
