WITH ALL the posturing and grandstanding of the “devotees to the yellow ribbon” conjuring their perceived “bogeyman” on martial law, this post on social media by Jojo Robles of the Manila Standard hits the spot:
“Teddyboy Locsin, bless his razor-sharp mind, is right. If you argue that those in favor of the extension of martial law are pro-dictatorship, you should not protest if those against martial law are declared supporters of ISIS.”
So who’s really afraid of martial law?

Not the people of Mindanao as the majority welcomed President Duterte’s proclamation placing the entire island under martial law on May 23. In fact the only people who complained against martial law are the Frappuccino-infused students of Ateneo de Manila and St. Scholastica’s College. This, of course, is stupid as these students are mostly from Forbes Park, Ayala Alabang and other gated enclaves of the filthy rich in Metro Manila.

Together with them are the usual suspects who are fond of wearing yellow knickers: senators Franklin Drilon, Paolo Benigno Aquino III, Risa Hontiveros, and Francis Pangilinan, including Cong. Edsel Lagman, has-beens Jim Paredes, Cynthia Patag, Leah Navarro and, of course, Raissa Robles and Maria Ressa.

Since these people are saying that if you’re for martial law then you are pro-dictatorship, I suppose it’s only right to say that these people who are against martial law are pro- ISIS.

You know when it rains it really pours. These people, Drilon et al., are already squirming in their pants having sleepless nights when Rodrigo Duterte won as president. Anytime now Duterte will make them answer for all they did during that nincompoop Noynoy Aquino’s presidency.

President Duterte just had to declare martial law and to make matters worse for them is that martial law was just extended till the end of the year.

From the July 23 issue of Manila Times (“Martial law extended”):
“Congress on Saturday overwhelmingly voted to extend martial law and suspend the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus in Mindanao until Dec. 31, 2017.

“The combined total of the votes was 261-18, with 245 members of the House of Representatives and 16 senators saying ‘yes’ as opposed to 14 and 4 saying ‘no’ during the Special Joint Session of Congress at the Batasang Pambansa.

“Senators allied with President Rodrigo Duterte supported his proposal to extend martial law in the southern Philippines by five months.

“They were Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III, Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto, Senate Majority Leader Vicente Sotto III, as well as senators Juan Edgardo Angara, Joseph Victor Ejercito, Francis Escudero, Richard Gordon, Gregorio Honasan Jr., Panfilo Lacson, Loren Legarda, Manuel Pacquiao, Francis Pangilinan, Grace Poe, Joel Villanueva, Cynthia Villar, and Juan Miguel Zubiri.

“The opposition group in the Senate, which rejected the President’s appeal, were Minority Leader Franklin Drilon and senators Paolo Benigno Aquino III, Risa Hontiveros, and Francis Pangilinan.”
This is too much for the “yellow ribbon devotees.” From now till Dec. 31 Duterte has plenty of time to really run after them. Now you know why they’re afraid of martial law, really if you have no skeletons in your closet you have no reason to fear martial law.

I wonder if Sen. Franklin Drilon would be as vocal in opposing martial law if it was that nincompoop Noynoy Aquino who declared it.

Of course not, Drilon would most probably be the most vocal defender of martial law if Noynoy Aquino was the President who declared it, but that’s not the case now as the shoe is in the other foot.

Come to think of it, where was Franklin Drilon during the martial law regime of Marcos?
What’s interesting here is Sen. Risa Hontiveros; she claimed that she was fighting the martial law regime of Marcos when she was six years old. That’s bullocks; most kids that age would probably not know the difference between martial law and a fig tree.

We know for a fact that she spent her adolescent years in Kuya Germs “That’s Entertainment” TV show; she should have just stayed there. Who knows she might have been the next Kuya Germs.

Perhaps her finest performance since her “That’s Entertainment” days was in Congress when she did a “Loren Legarda” bursting into tears (on cue) when votes for martial law extension won. But sorry Risa, nabenta na ‘yan.

And you know why Risa Hontiveros is against martial law and President Rodrigo Duterte in particular? There’s this little thing about an unaccounted for P1.7-billion funds from PhilHealth which went missing under her watch as director.

Was the missing P1.7 billion used to finance her third senatorial bid, which she finally won with much help, they say, from the Precinct Count Optical Scanners or PCOS machines?
Now if that were the case, wouldn’t you be afraid of President Rodrigo Duterte and martial law? (brotherlouie16@gmail.com/PN)
