Just involuntary semantic memories

OVER THE long weekend including Semana Santa, we seemed to have accumulated a lot of random thoughts so I might as well share them.

As always it is never to convince but to make one think and if you feel they’re condescending or you’re offended, I really don’t care.

On the pandemic

You got infected with COVID-19 and you blame Rodrigo Duterte? Why, did he expose you to the virus?

You got infected because you allowed yourself to be infected. You did not follow the medical protocols. You know what the protocols are but you have a cavalier attitude and ignored them.

Now you blame the government? Your health is your responsibility, not Duterte’s. It’s called self-preservation.

COVID-19 positive cases continue to surge in “Metro Manila Plus” because the government is doing mass testing (think for a while, how else will they find out who’s positive or not).

All the while they’ve been demanding mass testing; now that it’s being done they blame the government.

The rise of COVID-19 cases in “Metro Manila Plus” is akin to their perennial traffic problem – both are aggravated by human behaviour; the Filipino’s inherent disdain for discipline and following traffic rules and medical protocols. The only time when everyone toed the line was during martial law. Perhaps that is what the President needs to do.

The third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is hitting Europe. France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and Greece are on lockdown again. I suppose we should blame Duterte and the IATF and, of course, let Leni lead…

Only the so-called opposition are happy with the health crisis. As they have run out of issues against Duterte, they’re politicizing the pandemic hoping the vaccination program will fail so they can blame the President. Every time there’s a delay on the arrival of the vaccines and a rise on the number of positive cases they’re cheering on the sidelines.

Have you noticed the mainstream media? They’re not doing a proper information campaign on the vaccines and why we need to be vaccinated. What they’re doing is looking for side-effects from those already vaccinated, you know, splitting hairs just to get an issue to make this government look bad.

And by the way, the Philippines is third in vaccine administration/roll-out among ASEAN countries, behind Indonesia and Singapore. And to think we only started in March 2021 while these two countries ahead of us started in January 2021.

On stupidity

It’s not about the lechon, the “birthday cake” or the banter with the maid. Admit it, you just hate Duterte so it does not matter what he does. You will always find something wrong with him.

Hahaha…it seems the “devotees to the cult of the yellow ribbon” are rabidly defending lugaw. How utterly baduy, not to mention pathetic. They should try pancit Molo or La Paz batchoy instead.

***

Joe Biden’s America where cowardly white/black Americans attack elderly and female Asians – this must be what he means by reinventing democracy.

By the way, the “devotees to the cult of the yellow ribbon” rejoiced when Biden became president, which made it quite awkward for them to condemn this outrageous displace of racism.

More stupidity and the pseudo communists:

The so-called Makabayan bloc belittles the P1,000 ayuda from government for those in the

“Metro Manila Plus” affected by the Enhance Community Quarantine (ECQ) brought by the rise in COVID-19 positive cases.

I suppose Joma Sison is going to give more and these partylist representatives will give up their “pork barrel”, pool them together and distribute to those affect by the ECQ. Yeah right, and pigs can fly.

According to Manila Times columnist Rigoberto D. Tiglao in his March 29, 2021 article, “Drilon has filed a bill that would in effect be asking government to capitulate to communists or terrorists, and desist from accusing them as state enemies.”

And Tiglao further wrote in his article: Drilon’s bill (Senate Bill 2121 filed on March 21) has only one substantive section:“Any state actor, such as a law enforcement agent, paramilitary or military personnel, who labels, vilifies, brands, names, accuses, harasses, persecutes, stereotypes, or caricatures individuals, groups or organizations as state enemies, left-leaning, subversives, communists or terrorists, shall suffer the penalty of imprisonment of 10 years and perpetual absolute disqualification to hold public office.”

“Remove the enumerations and it would read: ‘Any law enforcement agent, or military personnel who accuses as state enemies communists, or terrorists as part of a counter-insurgency or anti-terrorism program or strategy shall suffer the penalty of imprisonment of 10 years and perpetual absolute disqualification to hold public office.”

And I leave you with that to ponder upon.

Random thoughts, just another way of saying involuntary semantic memories. (brotherlouie16@gmail.com)/PN
