BACOLOD City – Old grudge prompted two men to brawl in Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, police said.
They were the 51-year-old Alberto Villacuatro and 55-year-old Romeo Bagaso, both residents of the village, a police report showed.
According to investigators, Villacuatro was walking on the way home with his wife when Bagaso – wielding a bolo and a metal pipe – approached them around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.
Bagaso then shouted, “Amo na ni ang katapusan, Ber!”
That was when Bagaso started hacking Villacuatro, who sustained injuries on the right eyebrow area and left hand.
Villacuatro got one of his fingers amputated, police said.
Hacked wounds on the face and back were what Bagaso got when Villacuatro fought back using a bolo, added the police.
Villacuatro was treated at the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City.
Bagaso, on the other hand, was currently under treatment at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City./PN
