BACOLOD City â A man was not as lucky as his wife after a laborer attacked them with a bolo in Barangay Orong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
The 40-year-old resident Junior Emproso died of a hack wound on the neck, a police report showed.
Emprosoâs wife Vivian, 40, sustained a hack wound on the body. She was rushed to the Lorenzo Zayco Memorial District Hospital in Kabankalan City for treatment.
Investigators identified the suspect as their 30-year-old fellow villager Jophil Sorreno.
A certain âNonong Jabonitaâ was about to buy cigarette from Josephine Tomentosâ store at around 3 p.m. on March 1 when Sorreno told him to buy from another store.
The Emprosos, who were with Nonong Jabonita at the time, intervened. An altercation ensued, resulting to the hacking, police said.
Sorreno surrendered and was detained at the Kabankalan City police station lockup facility.
WHO DID IT?
In Barangay Mailum, Bago City, a resident had been hacked to death. But the police have yet to identify the attacker.
The 48-year-old Franco Demetrio was living alone in his house, police said.
His brother Richard found Demetrio lifeless with hack wounds all over the body outside his house while the former was feeding chickens at around 6 a.m. on March 4, police said.
Police were still investigating the incident.
