‘Kagawad’, 2 others yield P1M ‘shabu’

BACOLOD City – An estimated P1 million worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) was seized in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mandalagan.

A village councilman and two other were arrested and detained.

Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 6’s Special Enforcement Team staged the operation at around 3 p.m. on Dec. 3.

The suspects were 32-year-old Michael Astorga, kagawad of Barangay Zone 12-A, Talisay City, Negros Occidental; 25-year-old Dino Dimson of Barangay Granada; and 31-year-old Cris Angelo Abelarde of Barangay Mandalagan.

Recovered from their possession were about 150 grams of the prohibited substance.

A PDEA asset initially bought from the suspects a sachet. The buy-bust money was also recovered.

Prior to the operation, PDEA subjected the three men to three weeks of surveillance.
