ILOILO City – A village councilman and his brother were arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Merced, Banate, Iloilo on Tuesday, Aug. 15.
The 40-year-old Hermil Agsaluna, a former member of the Philippine Marines, and his brother Ar-Ar, 28, were residents of Barangay Santiago, Barotac Viejo town.
Banate police caught the suspects after the younger Agsaluna sold P1,500 worth of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer.
According to Banate police chief Lieutenant Dandy Ilalto, Ar-Ar was the subject of the operation. However, when the police transacted with him, the barangay kagawad was also there.
“Ang amon nga naka-transaction ang manghod, although we received reports nga involved man ang barangay official nga ini. Kag pag buy-bust ara man sya. We believe na nagabaligya man sila sa neighboring towns,” Ilalto said.
The police seized P40,000 worth of suspected shabu.
The suspects were taken into custody by the Banate police station. They will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
