ILOILO – A former barangay captain and now a No. 1 kagawad of Barangay San Rafael, Tigbauan town was shot dead in the village around 10 a.m. yesterday, October 24.
Jobanie Triste sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician at Guimbal District Hospital, Tigbauan police said.
According to Staff Sergeant Glen Mark Abayon of the Tigbauan Municipal Police Station (MPS), the victim and the suspect identified as John Castro Jr. met near the river and a confrontation ensued between them.
The suspect later shot the kagawad, Abayon added.
Initial investigation revealed that an old grudge between the victim and the suspect led to the shooting.
Responding police officers recovered from the crime scene two empty shells compatible to a caliber .45 pistol.
