ROXAS City – A kagawad was shot to death while he was on his way home to Barangay Agdahon, Cuartero, Capiz on Thursday.
The 53-year-old Winnie Salazar was on board his motorcycle traversing the road in Barangay Bago, Roxas City around 3 p.m. when two motorcycle-riding suspects gunned him down.
Salazar was from a court hearing at the Roxas City Hall of Justice at the time, police said.
Roxas City police station deputy chief Senior Inspector Erica Apellido said the suspects tailed Salazar while on board a red motorcycle, citing accounts from witnesses.
“May information na ang pamilya niya nga ginasundan sia. Amo nga gina lainlain niya ang iya rota,” added Apellido.
Salazar was shot three times at the back, police said.
Responders from the Capiz Emergency Response Team brought him to the Capiz Doctors Hospital where he expired at around 5:45 p.m.
Recovered from the crime scene were two empty shells of a .45-caliber pistol.
Police were still identifying the suspects and the motive in the shooting./PN
