‘Kagawad’ sues ‘Kap’s’ wife for direct assault

ILOILO City – A councilwoman of Barangay Rizal Pala-Pala II, City Proper filed a string of charges against the wife of her barangay captain yesterday afternoon at the Iloilo City Prosecutor’s Office.

Accompanied by her legal counsel Brian Gayanilo, 39-year-old Jesalyn Balgos charged Barangay Captain Noel Soliman’s wife Teresita with direct assault, slander by deed and oral defamation.

Teresita Soliman could not be reached for comment as of this writing.

Balgos complained that Soliman slapped her face and pulled her hair around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday while accompanying Mayor Jose Espinosa III in a house-to-house campaign.

Balgos is a supporter of Espinosa while the Solimans are supporters of Cong. Jerry Treñas who is running for mayor against Espinosa.

The physical confrontation shocked him, said Espinosa.

“We went to the barangay to campaign, not to look for trouble,” he stressed.

Espinosa recently said he would have Barangay Captain Noel Soliman included in an investigation on the alleged anomalies at the Iloilo Terminal Market.

Balgos said Soliman may have suspected her to have instigated Espinosa to order an investigation.

Fish vendors complained they were being forced to cough up P50 for using tables, P10 for the trapal and P15 for the lights at the Iloilo Terminal Market, popularly called “Super.”

Other than the arkabala that the city government collects, the market vendors have nothing else to pay, stressed Espinosa./PN
