ILOILO – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Region 6 was able to reach its target of 15 percent placement rate during the Kalayaan 2014 job fairs simultaneously held in the cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.
According to DOLE-6 information officer Amy Judicpa, a total of 382 applicants were hired on the spot out of more than 2,000 qualified applicants on June 12, Independence Day.
Of the 382, 214 were from Bacolod City; 168 were from Iloilo City.
A total of 226 were hired for local employment and 156 for overseas employment.
DOLE’s Labor Day job fairs on May 1 had a 16.3 percent placement rate.
DOLE Region 6 registered 4,000 applicants during the Independence Day job fairs.
Over 2,000 were from Negros Occidental. The rest were from Panay Island.
More than 33,000 overseas and local jobs were available during the job fairs.
In Iloilo, it was held at Mary Mart Mall. In Bacolod, the venue was Robinsons Place mall./PN
