AKLAN – Police netted two drug suspects in a buy-bust operation in Kalibo, Aklan.
The 46-year-old Rommel “Butchoy” Daña Garcia, of Barangay Tinigao, Kalibo is the No. 9 drug suspect in Western Visayas, and 42-year-old John Ryan Dela Cruz Malbas, of Barangay Mabilo, Kalibo is a high-value suspect.
They sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer for P500 on May 5, 2023.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), with the Aklan Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Kalibo municipal police station, conducted the operation around 6:17 p.m. at the corner of Concepcion and Goding Ramos streets in Barangay Poblacion, Kalibo.
Four plastic sachets of suspected shabu were seized while two more sachets of suspected shabu were found in Garcia’s vehicle – all with a combined weight of more or less seven grams and an estimated market value of P47,600.
Garcia previously served jail time for illegal drug charges but was released through a plea bargaining agreement, according to the PDEA.
The suspects were charged for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
